This year the Bearded Vulture Breeding Programme embarked on a more intensive harvest strategy than previously. With only a few days to undertake the harvest for this season, the Bred 4 The Wild team worked hard to access nests in South Africa and Lesotho. Overall, 7 eggs were harvested from 5 nests in KwaZulu-Natal, one in the Eastern Cape and one in Lesotho. Hopefully the hatching process over the next few days will be successful to ensure that the ideal number of chick’s are included in the captive breeding programme this year.
